Vincent Aboubakar is leading the race for the Golden boot at the 2021 African Cup of Nations.

The Cameroon captain scored twice again on Thursday to lead the Indomitable Lions into the second round as they came from behind to hit Ethiopia 4-1.

Fans at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde were stunned when Etiophia raced to an early lead just four minutes into the game.

After receiving a defence-splitting pass from, Amanuel Gebremichael  Dukele Dawa Hotessa fired past Andre Onana in goal for Cameroon.

That goal for Ethiopia was like stepping on Lion’s tail and the aftermath could best be imagined as Cameroon responded with four goals.

Cameroon needed just four minutes before they restored parity as Toko Ekambi powered in the equaliser.

Though the first half ended 1-1, it was Cameroon all the way in the second half as Aboubakar scored in the 53rd and 55th minute before Ekambi completed the rout.

Leading by example, Captain Vincent Aboubakar was also the hero on the opening day, netting two late first-half penalties as the Indomitable Lions - who won the last of their five titles in 2017 - came from behind to win after Gustavo Sangare’s early volley.

With Thursday’s result, The five-time African champions are now well-placed to finish top of Group A, although they must still play Cape Verde, who themselves face Burkina Faso later on Thursday.

So far, Thursday’s game is the highest-scoring game at the 2021 AFCON.
