Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has sensationally demanded Chelsea bidders stump up an extra £500m to buy the club despite not receiving any money from the sale.

The Blues owner, 55, has seen his assets seized as part of the UK government's crackdown on high-profile Russian oligarchs, in wake of Vladimir Putin's unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

After receiving heavy backlash from concerned supporters, Abramovich opted to flog Chelsea for a whopping £2bn fee.

However, just days before a preferred bidder is set to be announced, the price for the remaining three interested parties is set to soar by another £500m, according to the latest reports.

Sky News allege the three billionaire consortia have been informed that in the last 48 hours the price has now been upped to a total of £2.5bn - as Abramovich is keen to table one of the biggest charitable donations in British history.

The Blues owner is set to hand over £1bn to charitable causes once the sale is complete.

It is thought the remaining £1.5bn will be directly invested in the football club - mainly Stamford Bridge, the academy and the women's side - as Abramovich is not permitted to receive any funds from the transaction.
