Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has stated that his Chelsea players were fully focused on Saturday's game against Brentford and not next Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid, following their 4-1 loss at home to the Bees.

Antonio Rudiger gave Chelsea the lead in the 48th minute, but Brentford scored four goals in the remainder of the match to record a famous win at Stamford Bridge.

"It is not about Real Madrid," Tuchel said afterwards. "It is about us. It is one day off now and on Monday we start again.

"We selected this team because we thought it was the best team for Brentford. We didn't have half an eye or one per cent of an eye on Real Madrid."

Tuchel has admitted that he is unaware of how Chelsea's collapse occurred, but he did highlight how clinical Brentford were in front of the goal.

"Nobody saw it coming, especially after going 1-0 ahead," Tuchel stated. "It was very untypical of us and I don't know why.

"But we stopped defending. We were not aware enough of the danger, were sloppy with the defending and got punished.

"They made the most of it in those 10 minutes. Right after their third goal, we had 10 minutes where we had big, big chances and we missed them.

"They were lucky and clinical enough to get three goals. We did not defend like it is needed to in the Premier League and got punished."
