Sporting Lagos beats Gombe, Tornados to play home games in Kaduna

Sporting Lagos on Monday beat Gombe United 2-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos. Rivio Ayemwerene scored their first-ever top-flight goal three minutes before the break. Clement Nantuan netted the second 11 minutes from time.

Gombe United were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time but it was fluffed by Mojeeb Odufeso. Sporting Lagos will travel to Uyo for their next game against former champions Akwa United in Uyo on Sunday.

Gombe United will host defending champions Enyimba same day. Also, Niger Tornadoes will play their home matches at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

The Nigeria Premier Football League board turned down the Ikon Allah Boys' request to play at their original home ground, Bako Kontagora Township Stadium.

The league inspection committee found the stadium not suitable to host matches for now.

Niger Tornadoes started their campaign with a 1-0 away loss to Abia Warriors in Aba. Hamza Abara’s side had their first training session at their adopted home ground ahead of the matchday two fixture on Monday
