Real Madrid have a number of important players whose contracts are set to expire this summer. Thus, the club have some big decisions to make regarding who will stay and who will head out.

The stars with expiring deals this summer include Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Dani Ceballos and Marco Asensio, all key figures in the team right now.

Madrid are tentative to make massive changes to the squad heading into next season.

However, if they don’t make the decisions over extensions with some of these players, things could look very different in the upcoming campaign.

These are some very important players to the club, whose deals must be extended. The good news is that it looks like one of them has already agreed to stay.

As reported by MARCA, Kroos will extend his contract with Real Madrid until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Real Madrid legend ready to sign contract extension

There had been suggestions that Kroos was considering retirement. But it looks like he has ultimately decided that he has enough left in the tank for one more season at Santiago Bernabeu.

Kroos joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich back in 2014. Thus, his extension means that he will spend a decade at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite the retirement rumours, it looks like Kroos has no doubts anymore that he wants to continue playing for Los Blancos.

The German midfield maestro has always said that he wants to end his career while still playing at the top level.

It is believed that he was only considering two options, either retire or continue playing in the Royal white jersey of Real Madrid, and he has chosen the latter.

That is great news for the club as he remains a very important member of Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI.

Meanwhile, Madrid will extend their contract with Luka Modrić, but only if he agrees to the role of a substitute for next season.

The respected Marca newspaper is reporting that Luka Modrić has persuaded the leaders of Real to offer him a new contract, his great game for the Royal Club against Chelsea is said to have been key in Florentino Perez's decision to offer Luka for another year.

The board has reportedly already decided to put a contract in front of him until the summer of 2024, but they are asking him to agree to one request, the key that the president himself put in front of him.

Apparently, he will have to accept the role of reserve next year due to the possible arrival of Jude Bellingham.

The well-known Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Luka's wish has not changed, he still insists on staying for another year and retiring in Madrid and now we are just waiting for Real's official move.

Perez is convinced that Modrić can still be an important part of his project at Real, but in the last few weeks he had doubts because Modrić has not yet decided to retire from the national team.

Despite this, he appreciates his contribution to the team, but wants to let him know that his role next year will not be the same as before.
