Football has taken the center stage in commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State as competition for prize monies, medals and trophies in the ongoing Onitsha Unity Cup enter crucial stage.
Onitsha Unity Cup, a grassroot competition is the initiative of some retired Nigerian footballers in the diaspora who started their footballing career in the commercial city.
The competition is their own way of giving back to the city that gave their football career the oxygen it needed at the budding stage.

In the matches played during the week, Ozalla Football Club defeated Christ De King Football Club 2-0 in the quarter-finals stage of the competition.
In another quarter-final game,Peace Football Club defeated Golden Boys Football Club by a lone goal.

On Wednesday Mourinho Football Club defeated Ado Football Club.
The last quarter-final match,scheduled for later Thursday is between Galaxy Football Club versus Global Football Club .
The outcome of the match will determine the pairing for the semi-final.
