With victories over host Ghana, Gambia and Senegal, at the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation Africa Para Games qualifiers in Accra, Ghana at the weekend, the Nigerian men's team has qualified for the 2024 African Para Games slated for Ghana.

An elated new president of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation, Mr. Seyi Johnson, was full of plaudits for the victorious team.

He noted that, it was a step in the right direction for the Federation to sought for sponsorship to compete in the qualifiers in just a spate of 24 hours.

"I am so happy to see a Federation that has been in the doldrums for over seven years picked a ticket to compete in next year's African Para Games. The boys were so dedicated at picking the qualifications ticket and they knew  the importance of Nigeria playing in the African Para Games 2024, so they went all out for it."

Johnson, a Chief Projects Manager of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, called on prospective sponsors to stand with the Wheelchair Basketball Federation teams ahead of the African Para Games,  as Nigeria's excellent performance at the qualifiers is a sign of greater things to come at the 2024 African Para Games in Accra, Ghana.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Wheelchair Basketball Federation Women's team had earlier picked automatic qualification for the 2024 African Para Games in Ghana.
