NFF can’t the reconcile $960,000 Women’s World Cup account as Sanusi ‘s unending tenure generates tension

The NFF Secretariat still stinks rotten of corruption as the committee set up by the House of Representatives to probe the $960,000 FIFA paid the football federation to prepare the Super Falcons for the 2023 World Cup has found out.

The NFF simply bungled their retirement of the FIFA money.

In one instance,  NFF claimed they spent a whwhopping158,000 to buy and install software, but House of Representatives investigators accompanied by a software engineer were only presented jerseys when they went on an inspection.

The address of the supplying company is – wait for it – a nursery school in the United States of America according to insidetheglasshouse.com.

The company submitted its bid to supply even before the criteria were made public. It was supplied even before the NFF legal department had authorized it to do so.

The NFF retirement is riddled with mix-ups in dates and addresses.

It would also be recalled that NFF claimed they used part of the money from FIFA to organise friendly matches to prepare the Super Falcons for the World Cup when in fact the team featured in invitational tournaments that organisers footed their expenses.

Elsewhere, the unending tenure of NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi is generating controversy.

Sanusi has been Chief Executive of Nigeria Football since March 2015 and since then he has had his contract extended twice.

Some observers have insisted Sanusi’s time at the Sunday Dankaro Football House is up since last month and already some top officials at the secretariat including Director of Communications Ademola Olajire are jostling to replace the Kebbi State-born administrator.

NFF President Ibrahim Gusau has told those around his circle that Sanusi’s contract will run till 2025, while the General Secretary himself has said he has a contract till December 2024.

As GS, Sanusi earns $10,000 (more than 12 million Naira) monthly and it explains why he is not in a hurry to quit the post any time soon and so will fancy another five-year extension.

Recently, he scampered all the way to the Speaker House of Assembly seeking “Executive Cover” to keep his juicy job.
