Napoli slam €500m on Osimhen who earns ten percent of €42.5m wage bill

The management of Napoli football club will not sell their superstar striker Victor Osimhen for anything less than  €500m if the request is coming from a club in the Saudi Arabia Football League.

A Saudi club Al-Hilal, a PIF-funded outfit reportedly offered Napoli a total package worth €200m for Osimhen and they are willing to pay the Eagles striker €40m per year.

Osimhen is currently Napoli's highest-paid player with a salary of €4.5m net.

Following on from their historic Scudetto success, Napoli have managed to trim their wage bill a little heading into the 2023-24 season.

The Partenopei ended a 33-year wait for the league title last season, flying to the Scudetto thanks to the work of coach Luciano Spalletti and stars Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, as well as the rest of the squad.

Calcio e Finanza analysed Napoli’s wage bill for the 2023-24 season, discovering that they’d managed to cut costs by around €3m compared to their €71.8m gross wage bill for their Scudetto-winning campaign.

Napoli now pays a total of around €42.5m net or €68m gross, cutting costs thanks to the departures of Kim Min-Jae, Hirving Lozano, Tanguy Ndombele, and Bartosz Bereszynski.

The Partenopei’s highest-paid players are Osimhen with a salary of €4.5m net, and midfield duo Piotr Zielinski and Stanislav Lobotka, who both earn €3.5m net. Star winger Kvaratskhelia is one of the lowest paid in the team, receiving just €1m net per season.

Meanwhile, L’Equipe are reporting that Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has set a whopping €500m price tag for free-scoring striker Osimhen.

The Nigerian international was arguably one of Europe’s very best center-forward this past campaign, logging 31 goals in 39 games for Luciano Spalletti’s side. Under the guidance of newly-appointed Napoli manager Rudi Garcia, Osimhen has already found the back of the net three times in as many games with the Serie A champions.

The former Lille forward was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia side Al-Hilal. The PIF-funded outfit reportedly offered Napoli a total package worth €200m for Osimhen. The outlet reports that Al-Hilal’s €40m per year wage proposal made Osimhen think twice about joining Saudi Arabia.

However, De Laurentiis would have never allowed his striker to leave for €200m. L’Equipe reports that the Napoli boss said the following in an email sent to Al-Hilal’s representatives: “Your bid can only buy one of Osimhen’s feet

. For next year, I expect you’ll be able to table €500m and maybe we’ll entertain your offer, but I say again, ‘maybe'”.
