Lautaro Martinez delivered a decisive blow as Inter Milan confidently sailed into the Champions League final, achieving a 3-0 aggregate victory over city rivals AC Milan.

The Argentine ace netted the solitary goal of a stuttering second leg, building on their 2-0 win from the previous week.

The Nerazzurri now eagerly await their opponents, either Manchester City or Real Madrid, for a showdown in Istanbul on June 10.

Martinez, Argentina's World Cup-winning striker, was in top form throughout the match and struck gold in the 75th minute, delighting 76,000 fans at the San Siro.

This win secures Inter Milan's first Champions League final since their 2010 treble-winning season under Jose Mourinho and keeps their dream of a fourth European title alive.

AC Milan, realizing the importance of the 237th city derby, began with an aggressive tempo.

They were handed a golden opportunity in the 14th minute when Sandro Tonali set up Brahim Diaz for a clear shot on goal.

However, the Spaniard's effort lacked conviction, and goalkeeper Andre Onana made an easy save.

Despite AC Milan creating chances, Inter Milan's offensive prowess shone through with Martinez coming close on two separate occasions. A brilliant save by Mike Maignan denied Martinez's header, keeping the Rossoneri's hopes alive.

As the second half began, Inter Milan dominated possession, effectively stymieing their opponents. A contentious off-the-ball stamp by Francesco Acerbi on Tonali's foot went unpunished by referee Clement Turpin.

Inter's stronghold on the match tightened further when Romelu Lukaku entered the fray.

The Belgian star linked up with Martinez, holding the ball in the corner before delivering a perfectly-timed pass. Martinez's exquisite first touch and finish past Maignan sealed the deal for Inter.

The second half's latter stages turned scrappy, with several yellow cards being brandished, but AC Milan had no response to Martinez's moment of genius.
