Kenyans and Ethiopians dominate the Boston Marathon men’s elite field
The elite field for the 2024 Boston Marathon men’s race came out on Thursday. The field is led by two-time defending champ Evans Chebet of Kenya. The 35-year-old, who has a 2:03:00 personal best and has won six of the last seven marathons he has started, will be looking to become just the fifth man to win three straight Boston Marathons (no man has ever won more than three in a row in Boston).
The fastest man in the field is Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia, who ran 2:01:48 in December to win in Valencia. Lemma’s entry was a surprise for us as he’s run Boston twice before and didn’t do well either time — he recorded a DNF in 2017 and was 30th in 2019. Considering he won London in 2021 and just ran great on a flat course in Valencia, we figured he’d go back to London.
The full list of elite men appears below.
