Giannis says Bucks’s success in the new season is beyond him and Lillard

There’s no denying that the Milwaukee Bucks have one of the most fearsome lineups in all of the NBA — at least on paper. We have yet to see Damian Lillard play alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and his new teammates, and it goes without saying that chemistry will be a crucial aspect of the team’s success this coming season.

For his part, Giannis is well aware of this fact, and he knows that this is something the Bucks will need to work extremely hard on.

Giannis knows that above everything else, it’s his chemistry with Lillard that is going to have to click in order for the Bucks to prove that they are indeed a force to be reckoned with. At the same time, though Antetokounmpo also spoke of the need for the rest of Milwaukee’s stars to be on the same wavelength:

“It’s between — I have to say this as respectfully as possible — it’s between me and him,” Antetokounmpo told The Athletic. “At the end of the day, we have to have conversations every single day on what we are trying to do and we have to be on the same page. And not just me and Dame, me and Khris (Middleton), Khris and Dame, me and Brook (Lopez), Brook and Dame, Brook and Khris, you know, everybody has to be on the same page. But now when we talk about specifically this duo, we have to be on the same page.”

Anteotkounmpo has already made it clear early on that he will have no problem deferring to Lillard when needed. The Bucks brought in the seven-time All-Star for a reason, and for his part, Giannis has no intention of letting his own ego get in the way of Lillard and the team’s success:

“At the end of the day. I feel like this is the first time in my career that I really don’t — I don’t want to say I don’t care because I care a lot — I don’t mind with my usage being 25,” Antetokounmpo stated. “I want him to be the primary point guard. He’s the point guard of this team. He’s the guy that’s going to make a lot of decisions with the ball in his hands — in early offense, in late offense, early clock, late clock, early offense, late in the game. He’s going to make a lot of decisions for this team and I trust him. I’ve been playing with him for a few days, like, I know, he’s gonna to find me.”That’s definitely great to hear but as well all know, things are easier said than done.
