Petite Nigerian forward Moses Simon is in a celebratory mode following his heroic performance in the French Cup semi-final match against Monaco Wednesday night.

Simon scored the decisive spot-kick as Nantes progressed into this season’s French Cup final; a feat they last achieved 22 years ago.

Nantes and Monaco had played out a thrilling 2-2 draw before the semi-final was decided via penalties in which it was the Yellow and Green that emerged victoriously 4-2.

This is the first time in 22 years that Nantes will be making it to the French Cup final since the year 2000 when they successfully defended the cup they had won a year earlier.

With the game even at 2-2, the lottery of penalty kicks was required to see who will join Nice in the final

Monaco's missed penalties came from France internationals Wissam Ben Yedder -- the regular penalty taker and the league's top scorer -- and midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

And with Nantes players doing the needful, they simply required Simon to score to confirm their place in the final and the Nigerian star did not disappoint

Simon’s decisive penalty sparked a pitch invasion at Stade de la Beaujoire as jubilant Nantes fans celebrated in a good-natured atmosphere.

Now in the final, Nantes will aim to win the French Cup for the fourth time when they face Nice on May 8 at Stade de France.

For Simon, his scintillating performances should see him moving to a 'bigger' club in the summer.
