The Flying Eagles of Nigeria got their wings clipped by the Junior Terenga Lithe ons of Senegal as they fell 1-0 to their Senegalese counterpart on the opening day of the CAF U20 AFCON in Egypt.

The Nigeria team were high in confidence, going into the game having won 17 games out of their 18 preparatory games, scoring over 80 goals and drawing only one but all of them failed to count as the team failed to convert all their possession into goals.

The impeccable preparatory game results of the Flying Eagles didn't count as the team started their campaign at the ongoing AFCON under 20 tournament on a losing note.

Souleymane Faye of CF Talavera of Spain scored five minutes from the end of the first half to give the Senegalese an advantage in the group as Egypt and Mozambiqthe ue settle for a 1-1 leaving the Nigerian side at the bottom of the table.

The Nigerian team will however navigate their remaining two games in the group without the services of Abdullahi Musa as the player was sent off after the was shown a red card in the course of the match.

The Flying Eagles' next game is a must-win against the host Egypt as a victory will restore their dream of picking one of the four FIFA World Cup tickets at stake.
