Brazil soccer star Dani Alves' wife, Joana Sanz, is filing for a divorce after her husband was arrested following an accusation of sexual assault.

The alleged assault took place in the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona on December 30 and the footballer was arrested on January 20.

He is currently in pre-trial detention without bail. He was playing for Mexican side Pumas at the time but they have since terminated his contract.

Now the footballer, as reported by the Ana Rosa Programme, has reportedly received a request for divorce from his current wife Joana Sanz through his lawyer.

According to the programme, the reason for the divorce is not due to whether or not the footballer is guilty, but because he has acknowledged the infidelity.

"His lawyers have told him because last week she asked for a 'vis a vis' and he said he didn't want to", said journalist Leticia Requejo.

She also added: "They also tell me that Joana regrets these first statements defending her boyfriend, decisions that she makes because of Dani Alves' lawyer".

It was also reported that Alves had rejected the possibility of a meeting with his wife or to see his immediate family.

In the latter case, a maximum of six people will be allowed access. This is something that the player also seems to have ruled out.

Recently, Sanz deleted all the photos she has with her current husband Alves, even those of their wedding day from her social networks.

Meanwhile, an inmate who is in the same prison as Dani Alves revealed details of the footballer's life inside the prison.

The program "Cuatro al día" has published the information gathered by a reporter who spoke to the inmate directly.

The interviewee indicated that the former Pumas player does not have a particularly special life inside the prison and indicated that it was only after several days in jail that he was shown the sports facilities.

"He is in module 13 with Coutinho who is a friend of mine. A Brazilian. The other day he was taken out by the director and the deputy director. They went to show him around the sports area. At 13:30, at lunchtime," the prisoner explained.

"But he walks around normally. He doesn't have a special life, nor is he given special treatment."

The inmate pointed out that the former Barcelona defender has been asked for autographs inside the prison and indicated that he looks bored in the penitentiary.

"The attitude he has is bored, very bored, it's a very boring life," the inmate continued.

"But he's been playing football already, he's been playing some games with the guys there. The people he's with are there for the same crime.

"He's a good kid, he's a good guy. He's super calm, they ask him for autographs... I'm surprised."

The Brazilian's lawyer, Cristobal Martell, sent a proposal for his client to be released from prison and wear a bracelet with a geolocator so that they can be sure that he will not leave the country.
