Another injury blow has hit the Super Eagles as the stand-in captain of the team, William Troost-Ekong, has joined the growing list of injured players.

Ekong's injury setback is coming barely 48 hours before the eagerly anticipated friendly between the Super Eagles and the Desert Foxes of Nigeria.

Already, officials of the national team have disclosed that Ekong has left the camp in Algeria and has since returned to England where further checks will be carried out on him.

“William Troost-Ekong has left camp as a result of an injury cropped during the test game yesterday (Friday). He is back to base for further checks. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Ekong????????????????” a tweet on the Super Eagles Twitter handle disclosed.

Ekong was in the thick of the action on Friday when the Super Eagles played a 2-2 draw with the Algeria team preparing for the African Nations Championships(CHAN).

Coach Jose Peseiro is expected to ring changes for Tuesday's tie which is only the second-ever friendly match between the Algeria national team and the Super Eagles.

The high-profile friendly will kick off at 8pm Nigeria time.
