Afcon 2023: injured Ndidi doubtful as Super Eagles camp opens on Tuesday in UAE.

The Super Eagles camp for the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast will open in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Jose Peseiro’s side has been drawn in Group A alongside hosts, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea Bissau, and have adopted the catch-phrase ‘Let’s Do It Again’ as their battlecry towards winning a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title in early next year.

The Portuguese tactician last year on two occasions had promised to bring smiles to the faces of Nigerians by winning the long-coveted trophy after the country last won it in 2013 under the guidance of late Stephen Keshi.

Peseiro named his 25-man squad for the tournament on Friday, calling up African Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen, captain, Ahmed Musa, and Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabili.

Meanwhile, Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi sustained an injury a few weeks before the start of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ndidi missed the Foxes Sky Bet Championship 4-1 home win against Huddersfield Town at the King Power Stadium on Monday.

Leicester boss, Enzo Maresca confirmed after the game that the Nigerian has picked up injury.

“Enzo Maresca tells me that Wilfred Ndidi has picked up an injury, that’s why he was absent today,” according to a BBC correspondent.

“Both Ndidi and Iheanacho are set to join up with Nigeria tomorrow, Enzo stressed that neither are currently fit enough to play.”

Iheanacho has missed the Foxes' last two Championship games due to a muscular problem.
