2026 WCQ: Ndidi joins Osimhnen and Chukwueze on the sick bed as the Zimbabwe monitors Eagles

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will miss Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe due to injury. Ndidi joins on sick bed Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and AC Milan winger Samuel Chuwkueze.

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca revealed ahead of the Foxes Sky Bet Championship clash against Leeds United that the midfielder is suffering from a muscular problem.

“Wilfred will be out until the international break. It is also a muscular problem,” Maresca was quoted by the club’s official website.

“It’s a small thing but when the problem is muscular, even if it’s small, it’s always one week or two weeks because we don’t want to take any risks.”

Talismanic striker Victor Osimhen is also ruled out for the game, while there are concerns over the availability of defenders Semi Ajayi and Bruno Onyemaechi.

The Super Eagles will host the Crocodiles of Lesotho on Friday, November 17.

Jose Peseiro’s side will travel away to Zimbabwe for their matchday two encounter three days later.

The game is slated for Huye Stadium.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe  are monitoring the Super Eagles and the country media now describe Our Boys,

‘hugely depleted Nigerian side which will be without several top stars’.

Zimbabwe does not have Caf-certified stadiums to host international matches.

The Baltemar Brito-coached team will be aiming for a positive start to their World Cup campaign, and their chances might have been boosted by the news that Nigeria — the toughest opponent and favourites in the group — will be missing a number of key players.
