Shericka Jackson to open 2024 season with 60m race at Jamaica indoor meet on Saturday

World and Olympic champion Shericka Jackson is set to launch her 2024 season spectacularly on Saturday participating in a 60-meter indoor race at the JAAA/Puma Fuller/Anderson Development Meet.

This event, held at GC Foster College in Spanish Town, will mark the beginning of Jackson's campaign toward the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Jackson will headline the women’s 60m field accompanied by her MVP training teammate, including the two-time World U20 100m champion Tina Clayton and her twin sister Tia.

The 29-year-old Jackson, a household name since her debut at the Rio 2016 Olympics, has continually impressed the world with her versatility and speed.

In Rio, she captured a bronze in the 400m and a silver in the 4x400m relay, while in Tokyo 2020, she added to her medal haul with a 100m bronze, a gold in the 4x100m, and another bronze in the 4x400m.

 Jackson's last season was nothing short of spectacular, underscoring her status as a global sprinting icon.

She not only secured back-to-back 200m world titles at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest but also grabbed a silver in the 100m.

Her performance in Budapest was historic, clocking 21.41 seconds in the 200m, the second-fastest time ever recorded.

Furthermore, she finished the year as the 2023 Diamond League sprint double victor, undefeated in the half-lap sprint and setting a personal best in the 100 meters with a world-leading time of 10.65 seconds.

Saturday’s meet also features the 2022 and 2023 World 400m bronze medallist Sada Williams from Barbados, another of Jackson’s MVP clubmates.
