Real Madrid is indifferent to new development in Mbappe’s saga

Re

Real Madrid directors have learned a thing or two over the years. That's why they've stayed in the background ever since Kylian Mbappe made it public that he wouldn't renew his current contract with PSG beyond 2024.

Los Blancos have kept a close eye on things, just as they have with many other players.

The difference is that the Frenchman has been linked with Real Madrid, in one way or another, since 2017.

However, the Spanish giants have never viewed Mbappe's decision to remain with PSG until now as a failure, just as they've never considered signing him this summer, which Carlo Ancelotti confirmed in the first press conference of the season.

Contrary to what has been said, Real Madrid's directors have denied time and again that there was any kind of negotiation or agreement with Mbappe and much less with their counterparts at PSG.

In fact, Los Blancos even believed the player would renew his deal with the Qatari team.

Time has shown that the threats made by PSG's management towards Mbappe have led to nothing.

Luis Enrique made it clear that PSG are a very different team without the forward, which is why the coach didn't understand the exclusion of the Frenchman from the team.

He accepted it, but he knows that, with Mbappe, PSG can grow and fight for everything, regardless of his contract situation.

What will Real Madrid do following the recent developments? Nothing, or rather, the same thing they have done until now, which is to wait and watch events from the sidelines.

If Mbappe does not renew his contract and is free to negotiate on January 2, 2024, they will try to sign him, within the rules, and bring him to the club in the summer.

If he extends his contract, then congratulations to both the player and PSG.

The current transfer window, however, is not yet closed. Many things can happen and, until deadline day, nothing, or rather, almost nothing, can be ruled out.

What has been demonstrated, however, is that the reported agreement between the three parties doesn't exist.

Real Madrid does

not want to participate in something that is out of their hands and, above all, they want to stay out of what is a complex situation.

Another thing that is becoming abundantly clear is that Mbappe does not want to give up any of the money he is guaranteed from PSG, which is just over 100 million euros. The 140m euro signing bonus is also up in the air, if he renews or not.

It will be recalled that a new chapter in the Mbappe saga on Sunday, as PSG announced that the 24-year-old is no longer being sidelined from the rest of the first-team squad.

He'll be allowed to return to first-team training after several days being forced to work out with the other transfer-listed players.

"Following very constructive and positive discussions between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappe before the PSG vs Lorient game, the player has been reinstated into the first team training squad this morning," the club reported on Sunday.

The club decided to lift the punishment because they understand that Mbappe has shown a new level of commitment to the club.

The player was ruled out on July 21 and since then nothing had changed, as he didn't go on tour or take part in pre-season friendlies.

But, now something has changed. On Saturday, he could be seen attending his team's Ligue 1 match with his brother and Ousmane Dembele, before being allowed to return to training on Sunday.

PSG are sticking to the same stance with the player, as they want either a renewal or immediate sale, but now it seems that a renewal might be possible.

The club could promise the Frenchman an agreed exit next summer if he really does want to leave.

This agreement would be verbal, though, as release clauses aren't permitted in French law.

According to L'Equipe, Nasser Al-Khelaifi was present on Sunday morning at the French club's training ground and spoke with Mbappe.

The club will now make a final decision and communicate it to Luis Enrique.

According to RMC, PSG's plan to 'Frenchify' the squad to retain Mbappe seems to be working, putting the icing on the cake with the signing of his friend Dembele.

The arrival of Lucas Hernandez and the possible addition of Randal Kolo Muani also help.
