Osimhen on what the African Footballer of the Year award means, rejects copying Mane’s humanitarian gestures.

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen believes winning the African Footballer of the Year award will give him an amazing feeling that may strain the descriptive power of any single adjective.

In an interview with Francis J. U. Imumolen published on Imumolen’s Facebook page, Osimhen who has been performing exceptionally well for the national team and his club Napoli, also spoke on other issues.

Osimhen described his nominations for global awards as overwhelming,

“It feels good to be among the 30-man list. I'm happy for this; for this achievement. It's a huge one for me, a huge one for my family and those who have seen me and come up, and it shows the hard work that I've put in through the years has been paying off, and I'm really happy and grateful to God for this. “

So many things are falling in line for him, and with this nomination, a lot of Nigerians believe Osimhen is going to be the next African Footballer of the Year.

“I have no words for that; I think, for me, it's going to be an amazing feeling, more than an amazing feeling because I've watched a lot of African legends win this award. So, for me to grab it will be a huge. ., it's going to be a big one for me, for my family, for my friends and those that have been wishing me well, for Nigerians also, and I'm really happy that everything that I've put in my dreams, my aspirations have been coming to pass, and I'm really grateful to God for this. ”

On insinuations that his welfare programme for the masses is an idea borrowed from Sadio Mane; what he's doing for Senegalese and Senegal in general and that some people are already insinuating that maybe it's going to be 'Victor Osimhen Amputee Foundation', in that line. . .

Responding Osimhen said, “Should I say the truth actually? And this is exclusive also. I never said such. I didn't say anything thing like that. I didn't say anything like that! Let them bring the interview where I said that. It's easy to write something on the paper, you know, but I didn't say anything like that. I never said anything like that!

“I didn't say anything like that. I do what I wanna do for people who come to me when I go on the street. I see people like that, I try to encourage them with one or two, of course, money is involved. I give them and just go my way. For me, I never said anything like that. So, it's really sad someone pulls out something like that on the internet just to give these people some high hopes and everything like that, but I never said anything like that. I do what I have to do for people and just get on with my life. For me, I never said anything like that. It's good you asked me this to correct the impression. I never said anything like that. I don't know where someone got the information from. Probably, it's a good thing; maybe in the future, I can do something like that. But what they are putting there, I never said anything like that.”
