Inter welcomed Romelu Lukaku back with open arms from Chelsea in the summer but injuries have limited the Belgian to just 249 minutes of Serie A action.

The 29-year-old Belgian forward returned to the Nerazzurri on an €8m loan deal only a year after making his €115m move to West London, hoping to rediscover some form after a difficult year in England.

Lukaku started the season well, scoring a goal and providing an assist in his first two matches, but things went awry when he suffered a hamstring injury in late August.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter incurred great expense bringing Lukaku back in the summer, handing him a net salary of €8.5m, and things haven’t particularly paid off on the pitch, practically giving the 29-year-old €46,875 per minute played.

The Nerazzurri still believe in the Belgian forward and have an agreement in place with Chelsea for a new loan deal next year, but if his physical condition doesn’t start to improve Inter could reconsider things.

Lukaku briefly returned to the pitch last week, playing seven minutes against Viktoria Plzen and 22 minutes against Sampdoria, but was forced to stop again due to a muscle issue.
