The Nigeria U-20 team, the Flying Eagles have secured early qualification for the Round of 16 phase at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Argentina.

After beating the Dominican Republic 2-1 in their group opener at the weekend, the Flying Eagles followed up with an impressive 2-0 victory over Italy to shoot to the top spot in Group D.
Having both won their first games, Italy and Nigeria were vying for a crucial victory that would secure their spot in the Round of 16.
The game kicked off with Italy taking control of the ball and looking to assert their dominance early on. 
However, Nigeria's defense held firm, denying any scoring opportunities. 
As the first half progressed, both teams struggled to find a breakthrough, with neither side able to break the deadlock.
The second half started with renewed determination from both teams. 
Nigeria came out with a more attacking mindset, putting pressure on Italy's defense.
 In the 62nd minute, Nigeria finally found the breakthrough they were looking for. 
Salem Fago rose to meet Emmanuel Umeh's cross and headed the ball into the back of the net, scoring a remarkable goal and giving Nigeria a 1-0 lead.
Italy responded by increasing their attacking efforts in search of an equalizer. 
However, Nigeria's defense remained resolute, thwarting every Italian attempt to level the score. 
As the game entered its final minutes, Italy had a chance to equalize, but Nigeria's goalkeeper made a crucial save to deny them.
There was still a chance for one more goal as Sunday Jude made it 2-0 deep into stoppage time.
The match ended with Nigeria U20 emerging as the victors with a 2-0 scoreline. 
The Nigerian team celebrated their hard-fought win, knowing that they had taken a significant step forward in the competition.
