The 2022 Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Elective Congress may hold on Wednesday, 21st September 2022.

The date according to sources will be ratified at the Emergency General Assembly scheduled for August 16 in Yenogoa, Bayelsa State.

"The statute will be amended on that day and the Electoral Committee and Appeal Committee will be set up. They will call for indication of interest and screening of candidates within two weeks and elections held on 21 September 2022. The reliable source said.

Recall that the Federal Government in a letter to NFF President, Amaju Pinnick directed him to do everything possible in making sure that the NFF Election is held at the appropriate time and the statutes are amended to accommodate more football stakeholders in the Congress.

Meanwhile, the third-term ambition of NFF President Amaju Pinnick suffered another knock, when some Northern Caucus of the Federation who gathered in Kano decided not to support the ambition of the incumbent President.

The NFF President had in April said he would not recontest for the position again. But, his body language recently is, however, suggesting otherwise, as the former Delta State FA Chairman has been busy making overtures on his return to the position.

The Northern caucus is vowing to return the NFF Presidency to the North despite occupying the position from 1993 to 2014.

The Stakeholders we gathered were all totally opposed to Pinnick continuing as NFF President. The group however resolved to support only Northern candidates for the position. They vowed to resist any attempt by the incumbent NFF President to perpetuate himself in office

The group agreed on the possibility of having a consensus candidate from the North, as the days draws nearer and things became clearer.
