The Nigeria home-based D’Tigers team are through to the quarter-final stage of the ongoing FIBA AfroCan tournament in Angola.

D’Tigers on Wednesday at the Pavihao Multiusos de Luanda trounced their Gabonsse counterparts 71-55 points to confirm their place among the last eight teams still standing at the highly-competitive FIBA AfroCan tournament.

After failing to seek direct passage from Group B where hosts Angola finished ahead of them, the Nigerian lads came quite determined for the classification round.

It wasn’t an easy start for both teams as the first quarter ended 18 points apiece.

Coach Ogoh Daodu pushed his team to do better in the second half which they won 25-14 to establish a nine-point gap at halftime.

D’Tiger were cut napping in the third quarter as the Gabonesse narrowed the gap after edging it 15-13.

Commendably, the Nigerian lads stepped up to claim the final quarter convincingly; winning it 15-8.

Having navigated past Gabon who coincidentally are competing in Angola through a wildcard like Nigeria, D’Tigers have a tough hurdle to cross in their bid for a place in the semi-final.
