It was an insult upon injury for players and officials as Falconets were spotted sleeping on the floor at Ataturk International Airport, Istanbul, Turkey after missing their reschedule flight back to Nigeria.
Twitter and other social media have been awashed with pictures of the girls sprawling on the floor of the airport owing to the fact the team do hot have transit visa that would grant them access to lodge in a hotel nearby.
The girls had missed their connecting flight back home after arriving 30 minutes late to departure.
The team officials were in contact with the Amaju Pinnick led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in a bid to sort out their travel arrangements.
No solution was provided by the NFF as the Falconets would have to wait for the next available connecting flight.
A source said, "These girls have never travelled before. No need to waste money and book hotels for them during g a 20-hour transit. They can just sleep at the airport"
This is not the first time the women's national football team would be forced to spend the night at the airport.
After the Super Falcons defeated Ivory Coast in Abidjan to qualify for the 2022 Africa Women's Cup of Nations (WAFCON) the team were denied entry into Abuja by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and slept at the airport.
