Nigeria born Roma striker Tammy Abraham insists Roma fans ‘won us this game’ against Leicester City rather than his goal, as he is already preparing for the Conference League Final against Feyenoord.

It was decided 1-0 on the night by an early Abraham header on a corner, allowing the Giallorossi to eliminate Leicester City 2-1 on aggregate.

The Final will be in Tirana on May 25 against Feyenoord and represents the first Roma UEFA Final since 1991.

“Before the game started, the fans won us this game,” Abraham told BT Sport.

“We could hear them before getting into the stadium and throughout the warm-up. We weren’t even on the pitch and we heard them. The win was for them and my team. Hopefully, we can go all the way.”

It was known that Leicester struggled to defend on corners, so having Ricardo Pereira marking Abraham was probably not the best idea.

“My job is to be active around the box. That’s the kind of striker I am. Whenever I sniff an opportunity I try to take my chance. I’m not the best at heading but today was a pretty good one.

“It was a bit of a surprise, but it doesn’t matter who is marking me, if I sniff a chance I have to go for it.”

The England international was visibly exhausted when he finally staggered off the pitch in the final minutes, though Jose Mourinho had kept him out there for as long as possible.

“I tried and my team tried. You had to give your all. We left everything out there. In the last couple of minutes I couldn’t breathe. He told me to keep going and we did that.”

Abraham also spoke to Sky Sport Italia and was asked how much Mourinho made the difference for Roma.

“You can see, everyone can see, I said from the start it might take a while, but once we got to know each other, it’d pay off.”
