Real Madrid stars EAL Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr danced defiantly after the latter was racially abused this week.

Rodrygo opened the scoring for Real Madrid in the derby at Atletico Madrid with a fine goal in the 2-1 win.

The Brazilian immediately ran to the corner flag where he was joined by his compatriot Vinicius Jr, who performed his trademark dance with the goalscorer.

The pair sent a message to Spanish agent Pedro Bravo following his racist abuse of Vinicius this week.

Bravo accused the winger of disrespecting opponents and likened his antics to that of a monkey.

That was followed up by Atletico fans calling Vinicius a monkey ahead of kick-off at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Vinicius has also spoken out on the issue and has insisted that he will continue to dance and celebrate as it makes him happy.

In a heartfelt video, he said: "They say that happiness bothers.

"The happiness of a victorious black Brazilian in Europe bothers much more.

"But my desire to win, my smile and the sparkle in my eyes are much bigger than that.

"You can't even imagine it. I was a victim of a xenophobic and racist comment. But none of that started yesterday."

Vinicius is well known for his dance moves and even performed on stage with Brazilian pop star Ludmilla in the summer.

He has been ever present for Real on the pitch this season too with five goals and three assists in seven appearances in all competitions.

Madrid won the first Madrid Derby, defeating Atletico Madrid 2-1 at the Civitas Metropolitano thanks to first half goals from Rodrygo and Fede Valverde.

Although Mario Hermoso came off the bench to pull one back for Atleti, he then collected two silly yellow cards to leave his side with 10 men as they pushed for an equaliser that never came.

Atletico had started off well, with early chances for Felipe, Yannick Carrasco and Geoffrey Kondogbia, but Real Madrid broke the deadlock against the run of play.

Fede Valverde burst forward and found Rodrygo, who played the most spectacular of one-twos with Aurelien Tchouameni, finishing past a shocked Jan Oblak.

Vinicius - who was the target of racist chanting before the match - wasn't able to get on the scoresheet, but he could still dance as his team scored twice and as he was key to the second, hitting the post for Fede Valverde to turn in a rebound.

Atletico really struggled to get back into the match, at the end of the first and the start of the second.

It wasn't until the introduction of Angel Correa that they started to create anything, but Thibaut Courtois still looked secure.

That was, however, until the Belgian swung and missed at an Atletico corner, allowing Hermoso to shoulder the ball in.

But, the Spanish defender then collected two yellow cards in quick succession, one for getting in the face of Dani Carvajal and another for shoving Dani Ceballos as Atleti had a corner, that was then wasted because of his foul.

That allowed Real Madrid to hold on for the 2-1 win, making it nine wins from nine to start the 2022/23 season.
