Arsenal's bitter rival Tottenham are reportedly preparing to steal Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen from under Gunner's nose.

The 23-year-old has scored 28 goals in 62 appearances since joining the Italian outfit from Lille for £67.5million in 2020.

The Gunners had an initial bid of £51million rejected by the Serie A side earlier this week as they eye a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette.

Reports have stated Mikel Arteta's men are now considering a club-record £86m bid to get a deal over the line.

Man Utd have also been linked with a move for the Nigerian.

However, according to journalist Lorenzo Amuso, Spurs could well get there ahead of them both.

This is because Antonio Conte's side are able to offer Osimhen Champions League football next season.

Amuso told Calcio Mercato: “Conte, thanks to the Champions League qualification, has obtained great guarantees on the transfer market, so we can expect really great things from Tottenham.

"Among the names, there is Osimhen of Napoli.

"Tottenham is not the only club that has taken an interest. Arsenal have already presented a €60m offer, rejected by [Aurelio] De Laurentiis [Napoli's owner]."

Spurs have already made three signings this summer - keeper Fraser Forster, winger Ivan Perisic, and central midfielder Yves Bissouma.

Meanwhile, Napoli are mentally preparing themselves to lose Osimhen, given the rise in his value over the course of the recently concluded season and Napoli are not lagging behind in shortlisting suitors to succeed the Nigerian.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TuttoNapoli), their first bet is on Gianluca Scamacca, who Sassuolo are not ready to let go even if a €40M offer arrives, citing that figure is ‘not enough.’ The Azzurri forward himself is the subject of heavy interest from not only Italian clubs, but also foreign ones, including Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain.

On the other hand, Chelsea’s Albanian forward Armando Broja is also being closely followed. However, it is understood that with Romelu Lukaku now forcing his way back to Inter, the Blues would want to include Broja in their first team plans under Thomas Tuchel next Premier League season.

One thing is for sure, for both strikers the lure of Champions League football next season will be hard to turn down. Despite their desire to cut down costs, Napoli would have plenty of ammunition if they sold Osimhen and could be able to meet the requests.
