Nigeria-born NBA star Bam Adebayo has grown into quite a player in his time with the Miami Heat after being drafted in 2017. Following a bit of a slow start, he really started to come into his own in the 2019-20 campaign as he helped them get to the NBA Finals and Bam has never looked back from that point.

He has been a fixture in the NBA All-Defensive Second Team, having made it in each of the last 3 seasons and Adebayo went as far as to say he should have won Defensive Player of the Year the last two seasons.

While that may be a stretch, he vowed to win it in this upcoming season, as the Heat look to go one step further in 2022-23, having lost in 7 games in the Eastern Conference Finals last time around.

Adebayo also recently expressed that his desire is to stay with the Heat for his entire career, as Udonis Haslem has done.

“If I could, I would. Just to have that opportunity to be around this community for my whole career. A lot of the community has seen my grown up. Going from a random 14th draft pick to being a cornerstone in this organization and to become something bigger. It’s just one of those things that’s dope when people grow with you.”

It has been a special story no doubt and it would be great if Bam can spend his whole career with the team. He is likely to be their biggest star once Jimmy Butler starts to decline and will be their centerpiece.

They are also trying to get him a co-star for the future, as the Heat have been interested in acquiring Donovan Mitchell. It remains to be seen if they will be able to land him, but what is for sure is they have got a pretty good one for themselves already in Bam.
