Australian Open: Wolf devours Momoh and other third-round results on Saturday  

It is the end of the fairy run for Momoh, after the world number 107, produced a stunning comeback to beat Frenchman Laurent Lokoli (4-6, 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4, 6-2) and then pulled the upset against German Alexander Zverev, the No 12 seed (6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-3, 6-2).

J.J. Wolf defeated Michael Mmoh (6-4, 6-1, 6-2) on Saturday and qualified for the fourth round of the Australian Open, the highest level the American has ever attained in a grand slam having previously gegottenwice to the third round (US Open 2020 and 2021).


It is the end of the fairy run for Momoh, after the world number 107, produced a stunning comeback to beat Frenchman Laurent Lokoli (4-6, 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4, 6-2) and then pulled the upset against German Alexander Zverev, the No 12 seed (6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-3, 6-2). 

Wolf and Mmoh had never faced each other on the Tour before that match but had played against each other twice at the Challenger level with Wolf winning both times. 

Wolf, ranked No 67, will now face the winner of the match between Australian wildcard Alexei Popyrin and American Ben Shelton next.

 In the previous rounds, J.J. Wolf edged out Australian Jordan Thompson (6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5) and won against Argentinian Diego Schwartzman, the No 23 seed (6-1, 6-4, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
