Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández has revealed in a press conference in the US that he and the club have not given up on bringing Lionel Messi back to the club.

Xavi was asked if he would like to see Messi back in Barca, to which he responded: "Yes, but at the moment Leo has a contract with another club." The coach did stress that it would be difficult and was keen to quickly move on from the subject:

"It doesn't make sense talking about Messi now. He is the best footballer in the world and the history of soccer. President (Joan Laporta) said he wishes the story between Leo and Barca will continue. We will see in the future. But right now it isn't the time to talk about Leo."

"Yes, but at the moment Leo has a contract with another club... right now isn't the right time to talk about Leo"

Aside from Messi, Xavi did also refer to other possible transfers but didn't explicitly mention any names.

There have been several rumours regarding the possible arrival of Jules Koundé, who is currently at Sevilla.

There was also interest from Chelsea, which seems to have died down over the past couple of days.
