Nigeria defender William Trost-Ekong is expected to be fit in time for the Super Eagles clash against the Black Stars of Ghana in the 2022 World Cup qualifier playoff.

Ghana hosts their Nigeria counterparts on March 25, 2022, before travelling to Abuja for the second leg in four days time.

Ahead of the match, the Watford centre-back picked up a knock making him doubtful for the crucial double-header.

However, the 28-year-old is expected to return before the first leg in Ghana in two weeks' time.

“Update: Injured and out of #GHANGA? Nah! William Troost Ekong will be available and up for selection,” tweeted media assistant of the Super Eagles Ayo Olu Ibidapo.

Earlier, Watford manager Roy Hodgson had stated the defender suffered from a minor injury but did not reveal when he will be returning.

Trost-Ekong has been included in Nigeria's squad to face the Black Stars later this month after the Super Eagles announced their team last Friday.
