It has been reported that former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel would be open to taking over as England's boss in the future.

The 49-year-old has been out of work since he was sacked by the Stamford Bridge club last month.

In total, the German managed 100 games, in which he recorded 60 wins, 24 draws and 16 defeats. Tuchel also led Chelsea to Champions League glory in 2021.

Since his dismissal, he has been linked with a move back to the Bundesliga, but it was reported that Tuchel rejected the chance to manage Bayer Leverkusen, who ended up hiring former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso instead.

According to German news outlet Bild, Tuchel has shown an interest in becoming the Three Lions boss if the job became available in the future.

Current England boss Gareth Southgate is under immense pressure ahead of next month’s World Cup after a run of six matches without a win.

However, it is believed that Southgate has no plans to quit the role after the tournament in Qatar and is gearing up to honour his contract, which is due to expire in 2024.

Southgate stated that he will not ‘outstay his welcome’ after his side’s draw against Germany in June.

He said: “I won’t outstay my welcome but I think I can do a good job for the team, and I think we’ve done a good job for the team.

“I think we’ll continue to improve the team, which we have done over a consistent period of time, and we’re also developing young players that will leave England in a good place for a long period to come.”

At this moment in time, Tuchel’s successor at Chelsea, Graham Potter remains the bookies’ favourite to become the next permanent England manager.
