Tennis star loses match at Wimbledon but founds love immediately after defeat

American tennis ace Danielle Collins revealed she met her boyfriend in a London coffee shop after losing at Wimbledon.

Despite being gutted about her performance at the prestigious tournament last year, it seems Lady Luck was serving up an ace as the romance is still going strong.

Collins, 30, has been hitting top form as of late, scooping her first WTA 1000 title at the Miami Open just last week. She blitzed through to victory against Elena Rybakina without dropping a set in the final.

Collins, who's planning to hang up her racket at season's end to start a family, isn't slowing down just yet. The American beat Daria Kasatkina in the final of the Charleston Open on Sunday.

And speaking to the Tennis Channel before her final with Kasatkina, Collins dished the dirt on her relationship with partner Bryan, who jetted over to North Carolina to cheer her on, reports the Express.

"He's had a really busy work week," she said. "We have been going out for a while now. We met at a coffee shop in London so that was pretty exciting. I didn't think I would meet someone at a coffee shop.

"Who would have thought? Just after the tournament, Wimbledon. He didn't know anything about tennis, and he didn't know I was a tennis player, which was nice. He was a bigger fan of golf and so he said, 'Well I like golf. I don't know much about tennis.'

"And I was like, 'Yes! That's so exciting." It's fun to kind of be around someone that has interests in other things and that's not as familiar with the sport because you get to learn and grow with them and help them."
