Tammy Abraham to undergo surgery in London

Roma announce that Tammy Abraham has undergone surgery in London to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

The England international sustained the serious injury during the final game of the Serie A season against Spezia at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.

He was stretchered off and it immediately became apparent this was a devastating blow.

A statement confirms that Abraham went under the knife at the Cromwell Hospital in London, with the surgery performed by Andy Williams in the presence of Roma doctor Massimo Manara.

The player will remain in the London clinic for a few days and soon begin the rehabilitation process with the Roma medical staff.

Although there is no firm comment on how long he will be out for, Abraham is expected to be on the sidelines for at least six to eight months.

The 25-year-old had a disappointing second season in the Italian Capital, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists in 54 competitive games.
