Super Eagles forward Dennis Emmanuel is among the players Nottingham Forest want to offload before Tuesday night winter transfer deadline.

Head coach Steve Cooper wants to ensure he finishes the month with sufficient strength in depth across the pitch, to aid his team’s survival push in the second half of the season. So far, the Reds have been unable to let too many players leave due to a lengthy injury list and the need to secure signings first.

But with time running out on the window, a few departures are possible. One of the players who could head elsewhere before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline is Dennis

The Eagles forward wasn’t even in the squad for the trip to Bournemouth, following the arrival of Chris Wood, and he failed to get on the pitch in the victory over Leicester City prior to that. When he did get the opportunity to impress, as a substitute against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup, he didn’t exactly take it.

Forest must weigh up whether they have enough attacking options, though, particularly while Taiwo Awoniyi remains sidelined. And Dennis’ situation is complicated by the fact he has already played for the Reds and Watford this term Harry Toffolo

The summer signing has been linked with a move away from the City Ground, just a few months after putting pen to paper. Hull City and Belgian outfit Anderlecht are said to be keen.

In some ways, Toffolo can consider himself unfortunate if he does end up moving on. He had been solid, if not spectacular, prior to Renan Lodi’s arrival. But with Lodi in fine form, Neco Williams increasingly seen as a left-back and Cooper hopeful Omar Richards will soon return to full training, that would mean an excess of numbers in one position.

Cafu

Something of a cult hero, after the role he played last season. The midfielder was a useful member of the promotion-winning squad, and few will forget his penalty during the shootout against Sheffield United. Always keen to get stuck in and at the heart of any celebrations, fans appreciated his passion for the club.

He remains a popular figure. But having been left out of the 25-man Premier League squad for the first half of the season and with his contract up in the summer, it would be no surprise if he moves on before the window closes.

Lyle Taylor

Like Cafu, the striker has not been part of the 25-man squad. Given he spent the second half of last term on loan at Birmingham City and Forest strengthened their attacking ranks in the summer, that decision wasn’t entirely unexpected.

He will also become a free agent at the end of the campaign. Not playing games makes it tough for the 32-year-old to put himself in the shop window, but this month would be the club’s last chance to get some cash for him, before he is able to walk away for nothing.
