Suarez mocks Barça as club offer Messi two years deal and a wage four times less previous salary

Barcelona are offering Lionel Messi a two-year deal according to Catalan Daily Sport if the Argentinian forward agrees to a salary of around €25m gross per season, four times less than he earned when he left the club to join PSG in a surprise move in the summer of 2021.

The report suggests that this is an agreement Barça have reached with LaLiga as part of the negotiations for the club’s new salary framework for the 2023-24 season, which also includes updating the contracts of Ronald Araújo and Gavi, among others.

Barça’s offer to Messi would reportedly be for two seasons, although the World Cup winner would have the option to unilaterally terminate his contract after the first season.

Messi, whose contract with Ligue 1 leaders PSG comes to an end in June, has an enormous offer from Saudi Arabia and also a proposal from MLS.

But his dream is to return to the Blaugrana before bringing his glittering career to an end in Europe.

LaLiga president Javier Tebas claims that it is difficult to see Messi in a Barça shirt again due to the club’s financial issues.

However, on Wednesday, Tebas said: “As a league, I hope Barcelona make the necessary moves to get Messi in. I hope they manage to do it. I’m a fan of Messi and I want him to play in our league, but we’re not going to change anything. Barcelona can make moves to be able to do it, it is difficult, but they can do it.”

Meanwhile, Messi’s former teammate at Barcelona, Luis Suarez took to Instagram to tease the homecoming of his friend.
