Strikers merry-go-round as Alvarez-Osimhen-Lukaku-Omorodion being speculated
The future of wantaway Napoli striker Victor Osimhen continues to be the subject of speculations with the new season starting in a couple of days.
Telegraph Sport claims Chelsea could still sign Osimhen from Napoli along with Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion, providing Romelu Lukaku for Antonio Conte, but PSG are still in there too.
There are multiple reports of a massive merry-go-round on the transfer market, that could see several strikers circulating.
They all point towards Atletico Madrid beating out Paris Saint-Germain to agree a deal with Manchester City for Julian Alvarez at circa €70m plus bonuses.
Once that has been completed, then Atleti can release Omorodion for Chelsea at around €40m.
It was assumed this meant Chelsea were no longer interested in Osimhen, but Telegraph Sport insists that is not necessarily the case.
They could potentially bring in the Nigeria international as well, changing the approach to re-route Nicolas Jackson to the left wing.
However, the report also suggests that the Premier League side wants the Napoli star ‘on loan’ rather than make the move permanent for the €100m plus add-ons asking price.
Lukaku could then go to Napoli, where Conte is waiting for him with open arms.
If Chelsea were to cover the entirety of Osimhen’s salary at the new €10m per season contract signed in December 2023, that might not be entirely out of the question.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if PSG are beaten to Julian Alvarez, they could still be in the market for Osimhen too.
Elsewhere, Fabrizio Romano reveals that Los Rojiblancos will accept a €40m offer for Omorodion, but will only pull the trigger on the move if a deal is sealed for Alvarez. It seems Atletico will only contemplate the loss of one of their most promising talents if it means signing the Argentina forward. It is also worth noting that the fee for taking Omorodion to Chelsea appears to be the same as what Atleti will pay for Gallagher.
