Shorunmu : Abia Warriors job is a chance to impact on budding talents.

Former Super Eagles number one goalkeeper Ike Shorunma has said his new job as Abia Warriors’ new goalkeepers’ trainer is an opportunity to impact positively on young talents.

Shorunmu has explained that he joined the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) club because of his desire to raise quality goalkeepers for the country.

Shorunmu according to The Guardian said he would strive to improve Abia Warriors’ goalkeeping department and believes his job for the club would eventually produce quality goalkeepers for the national teams.

Pledging to employ in his new job the experience he garnered in a career that took him from the defunct Stationery Stores of Lagos to some of the best clubs in Europe, Shorunmu said that Nigeria has many talented goalkeepers, who could become world-class if given the right coaching.

The ex-Super Eagles goalkeeper said: “My appointment as Abia Warriors’ goalkeepers’ trainer will give me the opportunity to use my experience to equip the younger generation of keepers. With time, I believe we can train quality goalkeepers for the national teams and the Nigerian league,” he said.
