Saudi League: Ighalo scores six minutes after debut

Nigeria superstar Odion Ighalo scored just six minutes after his competitive debut for Al Wehda which travelled away to thrash Al Tai 3-0 in a Saudi Arabian Professional League match that was played on Thursday.

Ighalo replaced Hussain Al-Eisa in the 86th minute and needed only six minutes to open his goal account for Al Wehda as he netted in the second minute of added time (92 minutes).

The Nigerian striker hit the back of the net courtesy of an assist from Faycal Fajr who actually turned provider from goalscorer, having also netted in the 34th minute of action.

Ighalo last week Tuesday returned to a familiar terrain after joining Al Wehda of Saudi Arabia with the Nigerian putting pen to paper on a one-year contract.

Al Wehda confirmed Ighalo’s arrival in a video that

the Saudi Arabia Professional League side posted on its social media platforms with the caption: “Our attacker is an African Eagle.”

The Mecca-based club in its official announcement of the deal confirmed that Ighalo has committed to a one-year contract with the option for a potential extension.

The 34-year-old left Al Hilal where he won the league title and Kings Cup in June following the expiration of his contract. He was the top scorer in the Saudi League with 20 goals two seasons ago.
