Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo is at crossroads over his future at the club that shot him into the global limelight.

According to Sun of London, the striker is concerned his dream return to the club may end in disaster

Ronaldo the Sun report held with his agent Jorge Mendes about his future with the Portuguese superstar expressing worry about Man United struggle and nothing is been ruled out.

Ronaldo believed to be frustrated with United's recent form and he has become disillusioned with new coach Ralf Rangnick's tactics and system

Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes has jetted into England to hold crisis talks with the Manchester United superstar over his future at Old Trafford, according to the reports.

Ronaldo, 36, has scored 14 goals in 21 appearances since heading back for a second spell at United in the summer.

Yet his impressive form in front of goal has not propelled the Red Devils towards a Premier League title challenge.

Instead, they sit 22 points behind leaders Manchester City, having lost six games in the first half of the campaign and replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

And according to The Sun, Ronaldo fears his dream Old Trafford homecoming could end in disaster.

A source close to the player told Sun that: 'Cristiano is very concerned about what is happening at United. The team is receiving a lot of criticism and he knows he is regarded as one of the leaders.

'There are quite a lot of problems and Cristiano is feeling the pressure and is very stressed by the situation.

'He desperately wants his United move to be a success, but he is starting to recognize that winning trophies with the current set-up could be a real struggle.

'Jorge came to see him and they spent time chatting through how things are going, what they think are the problems, how they might be solved and what the solutions may be. Nothing has been ruled out.'

This is coming after Rangnick vowed to deal directly with any want-away Manchester United stars he deems not to be pulling their weight as he looks to cool fears of dressing room unrest at Old Trafford.

Rangnick is a meticulous man who would have taken time to study Manchester United's form before he officially took over as coach. He is one of the undoubted 'brains' of world football and would have understood the issues they faced. He is no innocent abroad.

Despite that, according to those close to the German, he has been shocked at quite how far United have fallen and how badly the club is misfiring.

Rangnick was said to be bitterly disappointed in the immediate aftermath of the Wolves defeat last Monday. Understandable, of course. But the disappointment went beyond the defeat itself.
