Real Madrid wins three points in Celta but lose Vini Jr to injury

It has been a horrid start to the new campaign for Real Madrid with regard to injuries.

The Spanish capital club lost the likes of Dani Ceballos, Arda Guler, and Ferland Mendy to injuries during pre-season itself.

Days before their first game of the campaign against Athletic Club, Los Blancos saw Thibaut Courtois rupture his ACL, which will potentially keep him out for the entire season.

Early into the game against the Basque club, Eder Militao also ruptured his ACL, heaping further misery on the Merengues.

Now, they have been dealt with yet another injury blow as superstar forward Vinicius Jr was taken off within 20 minutes in the game against Celta Vigo.

The 23-year attacker had started the game brightly, but after a dangerous run, went to the ground touching his hamstring.

Vinicius received medical attention and tried to soldier on, but could not do so for much longer and eventually asked to be substituted.

And, Carlo Ancelotti was forced to take his main man in attack off the pitch, with Joselu replacing the Brazilian in the 18th minute.

It appeared as if Vinicius had pulled his hamstring and despite his best efforts, could not continue on the pitch.

This will be a matter of great concern for Real Madrid, especially considering the fact that they do not have much quality depth when it comes to the attacking department.

As such, Ancelotti and Real Madrid will be hoping that it is nothing serious and that Vinicius recovers swiftly from what could potentially be a hamstring issue.

Los Blancos continued their impressive 100% start to the La Liga season as Jude Bellingham’s late goal sealed a 1-0 victory away at Celta Vigo.

Ancelotti admitted he is worried.

“There are no plans to bring in new players we can score goals without Vinicius, as we did today. He won’t play against Getafe, but it doesn’t seem very serious.

“He wanted to play on, but we didn’t want to take a risk. He’ll be back after the international break.”
