Manchester City Erling Haaland is at the top of Real Madrid’s list of priorities for the summer of 2024, as this newspaper reported on 23 March.

In an extensive report on the City player on TF1′s Telefoot programme in France, the French outlet discussed a Haaland move to Madrid.

“Real Madrid want Haaland to be Benzema’s successor in 2024,” they explain in the report where they analyse his move to City and the Premier League and the impact he has had at the Etihad Stadium.

The report includes the opinions of French football legends Bixente Lizarazu, Jean-Pierre Papin and Youri Djorkaeff, who are full of praise for the Norwegian striker, as well as his agent, Rafaela Pimienta.

“For me, Haaland is worth €1billion. Maybe nobody will pay that, but that’s the potential he has when he comes to a club. With him comes fans, goals, results, professionalism, digital content and sponsors... If you put all this together, his value is an aggregate of many things,” Pimienta explained in an interview with AS, which is also featured in the Telefoot report.

As already reported by AS, Haaland has the option to leave City in 2024. Madrid will do everything necessary to be the best-placed club to sign him if he activates the release clause that allows him to leave City for a potential fee of between €220m and €240m.

Madrid see him as Karim Benzema’s replacement in 2024, when they expect the veteran forward to end his successful spell at the Bernabeú.

Los Blancos are perfectly aware of Haaland’s contractual situation and know that the signing is possible and also independent of what happens with Kylian Mbappé, another of those wanted by the club’s top brass.
