The World Cup is just around the corner, and Nigeria born Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise is set to create a diplomatic storm in footballing terms.

The Crystal Palace playmaker is enjoying a stunning debut season in the Premier League after joining the club from Reading for 8.37 million pounds last summer.

Olise has made 24 appearances so far this campaign, scoring four times and registering eight assists in all competitions for the Eagles.

What is even more intriguing about the 20-year-old is that he can choose from four different countries to play his international football.

Olise was born in England, where he went on to represent Chelsea and Manchester City at the youth level before moving to Reading.

Therefore, he is eligible to represent the Three Lions at international level, as his younger brother Richard, who currently plays for the England under-16 side, has chosen to do.

However, Michael has so far chosen a different path. His mother was born in France, and his international career to this point has featured two appearances for the France under-18 side.

Olise's father was born in Nigeria, whilst his mother has Algerian roots. The Super Eagles have made their intentions clear by naming him as a reserve for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin and Lesotho.

Whilst Algeria have not made their move yet, they are set to do so. The World Cup is around the corner, and the Crystal Palace wonder kid has many admirers.
