As the countdown begins to the all-important Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifier match against the Black Stars of Ghana which the Eagles must win the Black Stars seem to be in excellent form.

In the English Premier League, the duo Jeffrey Schlupp and Jordan Ayew have played so well in the last few matches that they are in contention for the Crystal Palace award player of the month award for February.

The two players are included in the long list released by the club for fans to vote for their favourite candidate to claim the award.

Palace’s February started with a convincing FA Cup win over Hartlepool United before collecting two draws on the road against Norwich City and Brentford.

A challenging clash with Chelsea followed in which the European champions edged an even affair and days later Patrick Vieira's men stunned Watford with a 4-1 win.

The month ended with a game at home to Burnley, when Jeffrey Schlupp netted after nine minutes only for the lead to be cancelled out seconds into the second half.

The South Londoners played six games with Schlupp and Ayew involved in five and four respectively.

Schlupp contributed one goal as he opened the scoring in the 1-1 draw against Burnley while Ayew assisted one of the goals in the impressive win at Watford.

They are up against strong candidates such as Ivorian Wilfried Zaha who scored three goals in the month, Marc Guéhi, Michael Olise, Conor Gallagher and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The winner is expected to be revealed by the close of the week.

Elsewhere English-born Ghanaian forward Kwadwo Duah was on target as St Gallen defeated Grasshoppers in the Swiss League on Sunday.

The striker netted his ninth goal of the campaign to help the Greens to a 2-0 victory and make it three on a row for St Gallen.

Julian Von Moss broke the game's deadlock in the seventh minute before Swiss-Ghanaian added the second in the 66th minute.

Kwadwo Duah was scoring for the second week running after his strike against Lugano last week.

The 25-year-old was born in London and raised in Switzerland. He has represented Switzerland at youth levels but remains eligible to play for Ghana.

Also, Black Stars second-choice goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi kept a clean sheet as St Gallen cruised to a 2-0 victory over Grasshoppers in the Swiss League.

The 25-year-old impressed as St Gallen made it three wins on a row in the Swiss topflight league.

His first clean sheet was against the same club in the first round before adding another in the match against Lugano just a week ago.

Ati-Zigi was a member of the Black Stars team that were eliminated from the group stage of the AFCON in Cameroon. He is yet to make an appearance at a major tournament with the Black Stars
