PSG on the horizon for Zidane
The Parisian club's interest in Zidane is nothing new and there was talk of bringing him in a couple of months ago,
It is looking increasingly likely that Zinedine Zidane could be heading to Paris Saint-Germain in the near future, with many within the club certain that he'll be in charge for next season.
The Ligue 1 leaders are plotting a major restructure, as well as preparing for Kylian Mbappe's possible departure, and it seems they believe the former Real Madrid head coach is the right man to lead them into a new era and instil order on a disjointed squad.
The Parisian club's interest in Zidane is nothing new and there was talk of bringing him in a couple of months ago, but in the end, both they and Mauricio Pochettino decided to stay put until the end of the current campaign.
If Manchester United had moved for Pochettino mid-season, then that would have changed the landscape and hastened PSG's interest in Zidane, but everything on all sides has seemingly been put on ice until the summer.
Zidane can still be seen taking in games at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu from time to time and it is Los Blancos who PSG faces in the last 16 of the Champions League, a huge clash that could determine the season of both and the futures of more than one coach. Curiously, Real Madrid has also previously shown an interest in Pochettino.
Although we're still talking hypotheticals at this stage, the effect of Zidane going to PSG and Mbappe leaving would be huge and felt across French football. Zidane was born in Marseille, the city of the Parisian club's arch-rivals and some within their support might not take the move too well.
On the other side of the coin, the hope in Qatar is that a huge name like Zidane could soften the blow to PSG's image if Mbappe is tempted abroad. With the 2022 World Cup approaching, the idea is to have another superstar figure alongside Lionel Messi. Zidane, although no longer a player, could fit the bill for his global appeal and reputation.
