Paris Olympics: Brume, Usoro, and Ochonogor make Thursday's long jump final

Three Nigerian long jumpers are through to the final of the women’s long jump event at the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris, the French capital.
The trio, African Champion Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro, and Prestina Oluchi Ochonogor advanced into the final on Tuesday.
Brume’s 6.76m jump gave her the second-place finish in Group 1 behind Tara Davis-Woodhall of the USA with a leap of 6.90m.
Ruth Usoro came third in Group 1 with a leap of 6.68m which is (.19m) short of her season best of 6.87m.
Prestina Oluchi Ochonogor is the third member who is through to the long jump final with a jump of 6.65m as the 7th best jump going into the final.
The 12 women’s long jump finalists are drawn from eight different countries, three each from the USA and Nigeria, a French, an Italian, and one each from Burkina Faso, Romania, Jamaica, and Germany.

On the track, three other Nigerians secured their tickets to the semifinals in the women’s 400m and men’s 200m.
Esther Elo Joseph recorded a time of 50.51 seconds and it was 50.59 Ella Onojuvwevwo in the Repechage round in the women’s 400m races to reach the semifinals.
Udodi Onwuzurike also found his way into the semifinals of the men’s 200m from heat 1 of the Repechage round in a time of 20.51 seconds.
Nnamdi Chinecherem failed y in his attempt to reach the men’s Javelin final. His throw of 77.53m left him in the 14 spot in Group B.
