Italian Serie A side Napoli has dismissed rumours of agreeing to a deal with Manchester United involving a player-plus-cash offer for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen, 25, is currently on loan at Galatasaray, where he has impressed with eight goals and four assists in nine games across all competitions since joining in September.
Although Cult of Calcio reports that Manchester United's proposed trade involving Joshua Zirkzee has some merit, Napoli remains uninterested. The Italian club insists on a cash-only payment upfront for Osimhen's services.
Napoli will hold out for the full amount, even if it means waiting until next summer. Despite Osimhen and Galatasaray ruling out a January departure, Napoli emphasizes that any decision hinges on the quality of offers received.
Suitors must also reach an agreement with Galatasaray.
Osimhen's reduced release clause of €75m presents an alternative pathway for interested teams.
Manchester United's proposed swap deal, valued at €30m plus Zirkzee, falls short of Napoli's target by approximately €45m.
Furthermore, Manchester United's offer is complicated by Antonio Conte's priorities. The manager seeks defensive reinforcements, not another striker, given Romelu Lukaku's impressive form.
Napoli must facilitate sales to strengthen their defence, rendering Manchester United's swap deal unfeasible.
Chelsea remains interested in Osimhen, but negotiations will resume after the season concludes in May.
