Osimhen rules out January move to EPL

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has put an end to speculation about his immediate future, confirming his commitment to Galatasaray for the remainder of the season.

The Nigerian striker, who joined the Turkish club on loan from Napoli, addressed rumors about a potential January exit clause in his contract by speaking directly to fans.

When approached by Galatasaray supporters outside the club’s training ground, Osimhen was unequivocal: “Of course I’m staying here, I’ll remain until the end of the season.” This statement effectively quashes rumors that had been circulating about a possible mid-season move.

The former Serie A top scorer’s journey to Turkey came after a tumultuous period at Napoli, where he was left out of the squad by new manager Antonio Conte, who opted for Romelu Lukaku as his primary striker. During the summer transfer window, Osimhen was heavily linked with moves to Al-Ahli and Chelsea, but neither materialized.

Under the terms of his loan agreement, Galatasaray is covering Osimhen’s entire 6 million euro salary. His contract with Napoli extends until 2027 and includes a release clause of 75 million euros, a figure that could attract top clubs seeking a prolific goalscorer.

Despite a slow start to the season due to the transfer saga, Osimhen has quickly found his form in Turkey. In just seven appearances across all competitions, he has already netted four goals and provided four assists. His performances have quickly endeared him to Galatasaray fans and have been instrumental in the club’s strong position in the Turkish Super Lig.

As it stands, Osimhen will return to Napoli at the end of the season, but another move seems likely in the summer transfer window. For now, the striker appears focused on success with Galatasaray, putting to rest any doubts about his commitment to the club for the current campaign.
